Choose Faith Over Fear

One of the subjects I coach people on the most is fear. And quite honestly there is a lot to be afraid of. We are afraid of a terrorist attack, we are afraid our kids will get involved with drugs, we are afraid our jobs aren’t secure, we are afraid friends will betray us and we are afraid we don’t measure up….and that is just to name a few.

However the thing about fear is that as a stand alone emotion it doesn’t serve us. However, If we use fear correctly it can be a jumping off point to courage and courage leads us a more elevated and interesting life. The best example of this is a firefighter. These men and women are some of the most courageous role models we encounter. they are considered brave….not because they have no fear but because they do and they run into the burning building anyway. They choose sacrifice as a higher calling than their fear. And we can to trump our own fear too!

As I say in my book, Happy Self – A Three Step Strategy To Elevate Your Inner Game, “Despite all its uncertainty, fear does make one guarantee, it will kill your dreams, hold you back and ultimately determine your success and failure in many areas of your life.”  So ask yourself what you are so afraid of and how you can use that fear as a jumping off point to something more significant. Invite God to join you in this conversation and to fill you with a life of faith over fear.
