If you turn on the evening news, read a newspaper or tune into to your favorite radio station for updates, you will hear a lot of very bad news.
Alaska is losing glaciers at an unprecedented rate, wild fires are ravaging the western United States with no rain in sight and California is in a drought. We have an angry race conflict in this country and ISIS worries from abroad. News anchors are being shot on live television and police officers killed while filling up their gas tanks simply because they wear a uniform. Car fatalities have almost doubled on our nations highways due to texting and driving and heroin is making a comeback as a drug of choice.
The world feels scary and unpredictable.
At the same time, the new movie the WAR ROOM is #2 at the box office this weekend. Yes. that is right.
Is it really possible that a faith based movie on the power of prayer could be leading the weekend box office results?
I believe this is a good sign. People want answers and this movie is reminding us that there is no better way to find the peace and happiness we all seek then to invite God back into our life through prayer.
It was Charles Stanley who said, “fight all your battles on your knees and you will win every time”.
If there is one truth that has completely transformed the life of millions, if not billions, of people it is the power of prayer. It is the very act of praying that connects us to the most awesome, life-changing, powerful force in the universe, which is God, Himself. And since we are created in God’s image, He provides the perfect answers we need.
“Faith is the heroic effort of your life,
you fling yourself in reckless confidence on God.”
(Oswald Chambers)
